Time Out

I've been waiting for several months now for the girls to give one of their dolls a Time Out. I understand that this is the kind of role playing that children our kids' age do.

As usual, our kids like to put a twist on tradition.

During dinner this evening I noticed that my collection of wet paper towels had diminished more quickly than normal, only to discover that Eleni had been using each one a single time and then crumpled it up and tossed it behind her.

I asked her nicely to retrieve said paper towels from the floor so we could dispose of them properly. She got off her chair, picked them up and marched into her bedroom, presumably to throw them in the garbage there.

Moments later she reappeared and closed the door behind her.

"Where are the paper towels Eleni?" I asked.

"Time out," she replied and sat back down at the dinner table.

I couldn't resist peaking into the room where, true to her word, the paper towels were indeed sitting quietly in the "Time Out" spot (on the navy blue square near Zoe's crib), presumably for the offense of leaping onto the floor during dinner.

Eleni had returned to her seat and begun eating again, but decorum was quickly lost as Zoe wriggled down to put her own paper towel into Time Out, and mommy sprinted off looking for the camera.
