Time Out

I've been waiting for several months now for the girls to give one of their dolls a Time Out. I understand that this is the kind of role playing that children our kids' age do.

As usual, our kids like to put a twist on tradition.

During dinner this evening I noticed that my collection of wet paper towels had diminished more quickly than normal, only to discover that Eleni had been using each one a single time and then crumpled it up and tossed it behind her.

I asked her nicely to retrieve said paper towels from the floor so we could dispose of them properly. She got off her chair, picked them up and marched into her bedroom, presumably to throw them in the garbage there.

Moments later she reappeared and closed the door behind her.

"Where are the paper towels Eleni?" I asked.

"Time out," she replied and sat back down at the dinner table.

I couldn't resist peaking into the room where, true to her word, the paper towels were indeed sitting quietly in the "Time Out" spot (on the navy blue square near Zoe's crib), presumably for the offense of leaping onto the floor during dinner.

Eleni had returned to her seat and begun eating again, but decorum was quickly lost as Zoe wriggled down to put her own paper towel into Time Out, and mommy sprinted off looking for the camera.

The best way to get more presents...

...is to make a big deal out of the ones you get.

At her tender age, Eleni has clearly grasped this concept. Zoe, on the other hand, seems more interested in scientific experiments of the effect of gravity on half-unwrapped gifts.

This was the best Christmas ever.

Bundled

I am pleased to report that Zoryana takes bundling the sushis for outside excursions very seriously.

Star Trek sisters

Fortunately for Zoe, Eleni's first attempt at the Vulcan death grip fails miserably.

Twirling Dervishes

Zoe & Eleni consistenty refuse to wear skirts and dresses, so I didn't even think of getting them skirts like these for Christmas. Instead, I ordered these two for their cousin and our God-daughter.

I guess I'm going back online to order two more skirts.

Umbrella?

Photo taken as Zoe stumbled blindly about the kitchen shouting "Umbrella, umbrella!"

I would buy them real umbrellas, I swear, if they didn't provide at least 12 different ways to poke one's sister's eyes out.

Master slouchers

Taking bad posture to a whole new level, Zoe and Eleni practice slouching upon chairs upon the couch.

Rare pigtail sightings

Why, why, why, why, WHY won't my girls let us put their hair in pigtails.

Oh how I adore the pigtails!

Christmas card outtakes

So there we were, getting revved up for the great annual Marousis Christmas Card photography session.

We started off with some stretches to get the creative juices flowing.

And then got into some quick solo shots:

Cupie doll face...

Raspberry beret...

When what to our wondering ears should appear, but 8 tiny footfalls and woofs full of cheer.

"Hooray," chortled Eleni, "A doggie reprieve!"

Then raced into the hallway before said doggies could leave.

"Come here little puppy," Zoe was off on the chase.

While Rosie and Winnie gave E licks on the face.

So yes, it was another typical Marousis Christmas card photo shoot.
